Sorry about the type on my last post. It was supposed to be large, but something went wrong.
Looks like it's going to rain early today. I guess I won't be going for a walk. It is too hot these days to walk, unless you get up very early - and I am lazy. I like to walk at dusk. The bad thing about that is, you don't get to see all the lovely flowers and things. I think it was one of the nicest things God did for us, giving us flowers. They just beg to be noticed and admired. And who could not admire something as lovely as this...
Here is a lovely pic I saw on the internet. I love the colors, it reminds me of a small bowl and pitcher I have. What a lovely way to start the day with this pretty cup and saucer!
I am watching a BBC Masterpiece Theatre movie shown on PBS called Cranford. It is about a small town that is set in it's ways in England during the middle 1800s. The acting is wonderful. It stars Judi Dench who is my favorite actress. Her character has a worn face and walks slowly, but her eyes... they are so full of life and promise. She has the sweetest disposition, I just want to hug her. The poor ladies back then had to wear these white caps trimmed in lace around their head all day, and then when they went out in public, they put a wide brimmed hat on top of their cap. They also wore lace shawls over their dresses. I guess the men had it bad too in their waistcoats and kneehigh boots.

The story is lovely though. It was written by Elizabeth Gaskell in the 1850s. I am reading it on my Kindle, it is a classic book so they are free. I love that most of the classic books are free because they are some of my favorite books.
I just love my Kindle ereader. I can take it everywhere with me in my purse. As of this month it now can be bought at Target stores. Apple has come out with an Ipad, but it is not for me. It is twice as large and twice as heavy as a Kindle. It is backlit so it causes eyestrain, and the Kindle does not. This is important to me because I read alot. Another thing, you can not view the Ipad in the sun. I don't like this because one of my favorite things to do is sit outside in the fresh air and read. The Ipad is a multifunctional device, and you can do things like watch movies from Netflix, but I have my laptop for those things. The Kindle is right for me, I will never run out of reading material, now if my eyes will only hold up. It's a good thing you can make the print as big as you like, that's a nice feature. I admit I was hesitant about an ereader at first because I like the feel of a real book, but the Kindle does it's job so well, you forget you're reading on an electronic device. I still love my paper books though. I have all my book collection covered with clear dust covers like the library uses. I get them at brodart.com. They're very nice, even my granddaughter likes to use them on her books. It keeps them looking like new and protects them from messy hands.
Well, I guess that's all for today. With all these things I am starting to sound like an ad. It could be worse though, I could list all the things I hate. Luckily, I am basically an optimist so I won't do that. Have a happy day!
